Resiliency-Focused Supervision Model

Social workers often deal with complex, challenging, and emotionally exhausting situations that can negatively impact their mental physical health. When a helping professional is in distress, client care may be compromised. Therefore, the necessity of wellness practices to reduce stress mitigate burnout gaining recognition social work profession. The National Association Workers (2013) asserts supervisors are responsible for recognizing responding supervisees’ work-related angst. However, there little research published addresses pre-burnout symptoms self-care supervisory process. Resiliency-Focused Supervision Model (RFSM), culturally-responsive, strengths-based framework, was developed assist supervisees manage stress, avoid burnout, successful workplace. RSFM’s interrelated domain areas include: 1) structural/environmental, 2) relational, 3) self-care, 4) life self-care. RFSM practical, pragmatic option use partnership promote good health, well-being, resiliency.
